Food for the Homeless

It's hard to help individuals address the issues that may have brought them to homelessness if their stomachs are empty. That's why food is so important at the Water Street Mission. "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in," Matthew 25:35

How is the Food Used?

At the Water Street Mission we:

  • Cook and serve 3 meals a day, 365 days a year in our dining hall. It adds up to about 175,000 meals each year.
  • Provide over 2,500 holiday food boxes to families in poverty.
  • Provide weekly grocery assistance to families in poverty. Each month, we respond to over 2,000 requests for help.

Where Does the Food Come From?

  • Grocery stores, restaurants and farmers donate product.
  • Businesses, schools, churches, individuals, etc. collect food on our behalf.
  • Friends faithfully send in financial donations.
  • Rescue Mission Food Drive (October through December)
