In my 28 years of life, I've probably been to over 1,400 Sunday morning worship services. I must confess that some weeks, I take that time for granted.
Some of the clients we serve, though, have never had that experience. One time a gentleman living at the Mission shared that he had never been inside a church before. He said the only thing he knew about God was what he read on signboards in front of churches.
When individuals like this man get a taste of how good God is and see first hand how much He loves them, they begin to crave things of Him - like reading the Bible.
That's why we're so thankful for Madison, 8, and Ethan, 7. They're siblings who saved their money to purchase Bibles to give to people who don't have one.
“It was all Madison’s idea,” their father said. “She came to us with the idea that she wanted to give Bibles to people who needed them.” The kids presented the Bibles in the Mission's chapel service one evening at the Mission, and they received a standing ovation! It was incredible!
The kids said they really enjoyed the project, and they’re already talking about coming back to the Mission soon.
