Forgiveness

Last week during our devotional we talked about forgiveness. Each girl shared what they felt forgiveness was and who deserved it. The good thing is that the girls were receptive to this discussion. Some of the girls felt that whoever did the hurting or wounding does not deserve forgiveness and needs to work for it, if they desired it. Others said that if they made a mistake you can let them off the hook; forgive, but NEVER forget. As our discussion continued some of their hearts started to turn when true forgiveness was explained and even more when I asked, “What if God said that?” Their eyes opened wide and voices quieted. Still at the end of our discussion through watery eyes lingered the sense of deep hurt and an unbelief that they could ever forgive any who have hurt them. Some said that through forgiveness a friendship can be restored, title gain ( I’ll be the Bigger Person) and an opportunity to “step to the plate”.

I don’t think this topic is quite over as their hearts have been softened. We now need to step in and be the hands and ears of God to allow healing, restoration and true freedom to take place. Please pray for our girls, that He may bring them out of darkness. God has begun a work in these girls lives!
